Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)

Sanghimitra (30), India. Sanghimitra is a successful career woman, wife and busy mother of a two-year old boy. Like many women with a packed work-life balance, she suffers from the uncomfortable and chronic symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome ? constipation, diarrhea and stomach pains. Inevitably, this affected her ability to function at work, and as a mother. She visited her local gastroenterologist who recommended Econorm (Saccharomyces boulardii from Biocodex), a probiotic which restores the flora balance in the gut. Her symptoms subsided dramatically and she is now back to her energetic self.

Dr. Ranjit Singh, New Delhi, IndiaDr Ranjit Singh explains the common gastric condition, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), which affects 30% of the population, particularly women. Diarrhea, constipation, and acute stomach pains are all common symptoms and can thus affect daily life performance and productivity to a debilitating degree. As Dr. Singh explains, there is still no real proven cure for IBS. However, the yeast probiotic Saccharomyces boulardii from Biocodex has showed encouraging results in reducing inflammation in 87.5% of the patients, decreasing inflammation, promoting restoration of the gut flora, thus enabling rapid improvement to quality of life.
